Development of Link / Connector Corridor between National Highway-19 (NH-19) and Varanasi Ring Road
Engineering and planning of a grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) system proposed for installation on the triangular canopy at the MJB cum FOB of the Varanasi NH-19 to Ring Road Connector Corridor Project in Uttar Pradesh. The scope encompasses solar PV system design, module mounting structures, high-efficiency PV modules, inverters, electrical integration, cabling, earthing, lightning protection, and installation, testing and commissioning. Engineering activities are underway, with project execution scheduled to commence in 2027. Final system capacity and equipment specifications will be determined through detailed engineering and technical feasibility assessment.
Engineering Scope & Technical Execution
Project Overview
Development of a grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) system proposed for installation on the triangular canopy at the Main Junction Bridge (MJB) cum Foot Over Bridge (FOB), forming part of the NH-19 to Varanasi Ring Road Connector Corridor Project in Uttar Pradesh.
The infrastructure project includes a bridge over the River Ganga, with the MJB cum FOB having an approximate length of 1,320 m and a width of 23 m.
Engineering Scope
- Solar PV system design and preliminary capacity assessment.
- Assessment of canopy suitability for solar module installation.
- Design of module mounting structures, subject to structural feasibility and applicable loading requirements.
- Selection of suitable solar PV modules and grid-connected inverters.
- DC and AC cabling, electrical accessories, protection and isolation systems.
- Earthing and ESE-type lightning protection system, subject to detailed engineering and applicable standards.
- Grid interconnection and integration with the designated electrical system.
- Installation, testing and commissioning of the complete solar PV system.
- Compliance with applicable MNRE guidelines, BIS standards and relevant electrical safety requirements.
Technical Considerations
The system configuration and achievable installed capacity will be established through detailed engineering, including assessment of usable canopy area, structural loading, wind loads, shading, electrical interconnection requirements, cable routing, equipment placement and maintenance access.
The final equipment selection, system capacity, energy yield and grid integration arrangements will be subject to technical feasibility, site conditions and project approvals.
